Rick Astley Shares Heartwarming Video of Evansville Music Teacher and Students
I know that the world can be a jaded and cynical place, but I dare you to find something negative to say about this story. I bet you can’t do it!
A Blast from the ’80s - Rick Astley Still Making Waves
If you grew up in the ‘80s then you are surely familiar with the music of Rick Astley, you know, the pale-faced, red-headed singer whose voice in no way matched his look. Rick had some big hits back in the day - one of which found new life decades later after the “Rick Roll” prank went viral.
Well, these days, Rick stays busy making music, collaborating with others, and basically just being a cool guy. And apparently, he likes to share cool music videos that he comes across – including a super sweet video by a music teacher here in Evansville.
Meet the Evansville Music Teacher Behind the Magic
Matt Hart is the music teacher at Hebron Elementary School in Evansville, and he shares lots of videos from his classroom. He does an amazing job of engaging these youngsters and getting them to sing. One song in particular – the one that caught Rick’s attention – is “Lovely Day.” Check it out.
What I might love the most about this whole story is that these kids weren’t even singing a Rick Astley song. It would make total sense if Rick shared a video of those first graders singing “Never Gonna Give You Up” or “Together Forever.” But it wasn’t even about that. Rick shared it because of the joy it gave him (you can see it in his face), and the joy he hopes it will give others.

So, if you needed a reason to smile today, here it is: a local teacher + his students + a legendary singer = pure, simple joy. And honestly, you do just want to listen to that video on repeat.
