A Beloved Evansville Fireworks Event Just Got a Major Makeover
Evansville's Biggest Fireworks Tradition Just Got A New Name And A New Date
One thing I love about the summer is the fireworks. I am also in for a treat because I have seen firework shows in Southern Illinois, but I have yet to attend an iconic firework event in Evansville, and that's all about to change. Fireworks season is basically here, and I have some news that is going to make your May a whole lot better. One of Evansville's biggest summer traditions is coming back, and it is bringing a brand new name, a new date, and, from what organizers are saying, the biggest show yet.
June Boom Is Now Mark's Mayhem
What a lot of Tri-State families have known for years as June Boom is officially getting a rebrand. The event is now called Mark's Mayhem, and it is happening on May 23, 2026, at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center Grandstands. So yes, you are getting fireworks in May this year, and if summer hasn't kicked off in your brain, let this be the reason it does!
Admission is completely free, the fireworks demo kicks off at dark, and there will be food trucks and giveaways throughout the night. It is the kind of evening where you just show up, find a good spot, and let the sky do the rest.
This Is Not Your Average Fireworks Show
Mark's Fireworks has been doing this for more than 20 years. What started as a small demo for store managers has turned into one of the biggest free community fireworks events in the entire Tri-State. If you have been before, you already know it is a big deal. If you have never been, this is the year to change that.
This year's show is also tying into America's 250th anniversary celebration, so expect the displays to be massive. Like, "legitimately look up, and your jaw will drop" massive.
A Family-Owned Business That Became A Tri-State Tradition
Mark's Fireworks was founded in 1999 by Mark and Laura Hisle and has grown into a go-to fireworks destination across Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. The family-owned company is known for bringing in exclusive products and turning community events into the kind of summer memories people actually talk about for years.
This year, you will also get a first look at some of the hottest fireworks products coming in 2026 before anyone else can get their hands on them. Which, if you are a fireworks person, you already know that is a big deal.

Mark Your Calendar Now
Mark's Mayhem is May 23, 2026, at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center Grandstands. It is free, it is open to everyone, and it is the perfect way to kick off summer in the Tri-State before summer even officially starts. Grab your chairs, bring the kids, and get there early for a good spot.
