We are pretty familiar with construction barrels in the Evansville, Indiana area. We are also all too familiar with the stop lights along the Lloyd Expressway. A major road construction plan is in the works that will combine both of the things we loathe - Orange cones and more stops on the Lloyd.

Making the Lloyd Work for You

PersonalIy, don't have that much of a problem with the Lloyd. It serves the purpose of getting from the East side of Evansville to the West side. Sure, too many people exceed the speed limit, and the stoplights seem to come out of nowhere. So, what improvements will make the Lloyd Expressway work better for you?

Felstead Road and Middle Mt. Vernon

If you travel on the West side a lot, this video shows how the improvements can save you time.

A restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT) and signalized left turns are being considered to increase efficiency and reduce drive time for motorists.

What is a Displaced Left Turn?

This sounds like something that would send me to a chiropractor. The experts say that it will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on the Lloyd. This video gives us a visual of what we can expect.

More Traffic Signals on The Lloyd

The experts say that adding more signals will cut 30 to 60 seconds out of turning left. I'm sure you are wondering why there are so many signals on something we call an expressway. The answer to that and other questions you may have can be found at TheLloyd4U.

Phase One construction is expected to begin in spring 2024. Phase Two design has been accelerated so construction can begin in 2024 as well. With well-planned phasing, construction can be completed for all improvement projects in 4 years.
