Winter Storm Warning Takes Aim on Western KY and Southern IN

For the second time in a week, western Kentucky and southern Indiana are under a Winter Storm Warning. Days after Winter Storm Blair dumped snow, sleet and heavy amounts of freezing rain on the Tristate area, another wintry system is set to move into the area. There's some good news and bad news with the storm.

Let's celebrate the good news first. Because we are dealing with incredibly cold Arctic temperatures, there won't be any freezing rain with this system. Last week, freezing rain from Blair wreaked havoc on parts of the Tristate and caused power outages for thousands and thousands of homeowners in our area.

Now, the bad news. This system is likely going to dump more snow on us than Blair did. Here are the most up-to-date snow projections.

WHAT DOES A WINTER STORM WARNING MEAN?

WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches, with higher amounts possible near the Arkansas and Tennessee borders.

WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

WHEN...From midnight CST tonight to midnight CST Friday Night.

IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.
