Summer Bucket List: Go Way Down Yonder on the Chattahoochee
Yeehaw y'all! Summer is almost here! You can almost smell the weenies roastin' in the air. I bet you're as ready as I am to float in a body of water with a drink in your hand, 90s country playing, working on a sun tan.
Summer Bucket List Trip
Surrounded by beautiful rivers and lakes here in Kentucky, we've got so many great options within driving distance for a weekend trip. Boating, skiing, fishing, tubing, camping, etc., the whole nine yards for outdoor fun. However, I came across a destination that feels like a quintessential Summer Bucket List getaway.
Chattahoochee Trip Inspiration
First, we'll let Alan set the stage. Why would you want to go "way down yonder on the Chattahoochee?"
I already know how to swim, but I'm trying to learn a lot about livin' and a little 'bout love, ya know what I mean? Maybe get a burger and a grape sno cone? Definitely forget about a plan and just live for the minute! I guess a plan is important, though, so here are some fun things you can do on the Chattahoochee River.
Exploring the Chattahoochee River
You can go canoeing or tubing, hiking, ziplining, and find all kinds of exciting activities. There are even options for white water rafting if you're feeling super adventurous. The gorgeous waterfalls, like Anna Ruby Falls, and the mountain scenery of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest look like the kind of natural beauty everyone should experience at least once.
Georgia's Alpine Village
Believe it or not, in North Georgia, there is a town called Helen, where you can find a recreated German town vibe. Complete with brick walkways, Bavarian-style architecture, quaint shops, and fun restaurants. It looks like a really cool place to piddle around and do some touristy things like mini-golf or wine tours.
Here is a cool video of the town, and it begins with a look at how you can just float down the Chattahoochee past restaurants and pubs. If you weren't soaked, you could stop and grab some food or walk to some of the shopping areas. It looks like there are all kinds of unique spots.
OK, so who is down for a road trip?! Let's "lay some rubber on the Georgia asphalt" and check this cool experience off our Summer Bucket List.
