Two Kentucky Cities Named Among ‘The 20 Friendliest Towns in the South’
Southern Living just published its list of The 20 Friendliest Towns in the South. Topping that list in 2024 is the small town of Covington, Louisiana.
Here's what Southern Living says about Covington:
From Mayor Mark Johnson, who makes a point to engage with visitors and constituents (he even leads free Zumba classes), to welcoming business owners, to public events that give people a reason to gather, Covington has created a new definition of Southern hospitality.
If you live in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you actually won't have to drive all the way to Louisiana to find yourself in two other cities that made Southern Living's list.
Coming in at #19 is Henderson, Kentucky! The Henderson Tourist Commission shared the big news that they had gotten a major shout out from the magazine!
Big news! Henderson has been named one of Southern Living Magazine's 'The 20 Friendliest Towns in the South'! This recognition speaks volumes about the genuine warmth and hospitality of our community. A heartfelt thank you to each and every Hendersonian whose kindness and smiles contributed to this honor. Congrats Henderson!

But Henderson isn't the only Kentucky city to make that Top 20. Coming in at #18 is the city of Paducah in the far western side of the state. The primary reason that Paducah made the list? The Paducah Ambassadors! Southern Living says, "This group of local volunteers in red jackets not only welcomes people at events around town, they answer their questions and make sure they’re headed in the right direction!"
Congratulations to Henderson and Paducah! If you're looking for friendly places to visit here in Kentucky, you've found them.
