Planning for the 87th Annual Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is in full swing! Tradition has always been that the date for the festivities is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This means that the beautiful floats, sparkling garbage trucks, and marching bands will be lined up and ready to go at 4:30 PM on November 22nd.

I have such wonderful memories of attending the parade as a child.  We would bundle up and meet friends to drink hot chocolate from our thermoses and hopefully rack up on candy canes and see the big man himself to kick off the Holiday season.

Theme For 2025 Owensboro Christmas Parade

"It's Christmastime in the City" is the theme for 2025. The theme helps those who are putting together entries in the parade decide how to decorate their floats. As everyone sits and watches, it's fun to observe the different interpretations and creativity.

The Christmas parade board encourages anyone wanting to participate with a float to register as soon as possible to take advantage of the early bird discount. If you sign up and pay before October 31st, the Early Bird entry fee is $50 for nonprofit groups and $150 for commercial groups. For everything you need to know, click here.

Owensboro Christmas Parade Volunteers

Did you know the Christmas parade board is made up of volunteers? It cannot happen without the help of the community, and there are never enough hands on deck. If you or someone you know may want to assist, you can reach out to this post:
