It's coming back! The Bluegrass Legends Experience will once again be roaring into the center of Owensboro. Last year, Jimmy Allyn and Janie Rhoades brought to life a massive vision and dream of theirs. The couple wanted to stage a multi-day car show that featured live music, dozens of food trucks and hundreds upon hundreds of classic cars and trucks. That dream became a huge reality.
Nearly 600 cars showed up for the inaugural event, which was held at the Owensboro Sportscenter and Moreland Park. The mission? To raise money (LOTS of it) for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. During the 2024 WBKR St. Jude Radiothon, Bluegrass Legends joined the 26-hour event and made a whopping donation of $30,000!
The date is set for the 2024 Bluegrass Legends Experience.  Organizers say the display will take up half of the Sportscenter floor. HUGE! Mark your calendars for August 16th through the 18th! It's one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year.

Excitement around that event got another high-octane injection today thanks to big announcement from Jimmy and Janie. This year's festival will feature a tribute to legendary daredevil, Evel Knievel. Owensboro is one of just seven cities chosen for the 2024 tour!

Evel Knievel was a popular American stunt performer best-known for death-defying ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps.

One of his most famous stunts involved the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Knievel attempted that jump- of 141 feet- but came up short. He broke lots of bones, but was still declared a legend.

Evel Knievel died in 2007 at the age of 69. According to Jimmy Rhoades, the Tribute to Evel Knievel will feature "a unique display from one of the most iconic daredevils in history."
