The Star of Elsbeth, the New CBS Crime Series, Has Ties to Evansville, IN
At the end of February, a brand new series will debut on CBS. The quirky crime comedy-drama Elsbeth follows Elsbeth Tascioni as she works with the NYPD to solve puzzling crimes and catch the criminals who committed them. If the character Elsbeth seems familiar, there's "good" reason for that. The new show is a spinoff of the popular series The Good Wife and Elsbeth was also seen in the series The Good Fight.
If the actress playing Elsbeth looks familiar, there's good reason for that too. She has ties to Evansville, Indiana. In fact, she spent some considerable amount of time there.
Carrie Preston was born in Macon, Georgia, but made her way to southern Indiana in the late 1980s. She attended the University of Evansville, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1990. After that, she moved from Evansville to New York City to pursue an acting diploma from the drama division of Julliard. She's been acting and working on high profile projects since.
Preston has had roles in many notable films like My Best Friend's Wedding, Doubt, The Stepford Wives, The Holdovers and more. She's probably best known for her roles in TV series like HBO's True Blood.
In 2013, Preston won a Primetime Emmy for her work as Elsbeth in The Good Wife. Preston snagged the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
It's that role- Elsbeth- that has landed Carrie Preston a starring role in the brand new CBS show. Elsbeth premieres at 9pm CST on Thursday, February 29th on CBS and it will stream on Paramount+.
