So. Indiana’s Warrick Humane Society Hosting One Day Donation Drive and You Can Help
We've partnered with one Southern Indiana animal rescue for a one day donation drive in hopes of getting 5,000 people to donate just $10 to help build a portion of their new rescue facility.
Fundraising Underway for a Brand New Facility
Earlier this year, it was announced that Warrick Humane Society, had set out to fundraise enough money to build a brand new shelter facility to house the animals in their care. It's a big project, with a big price tag, but they know as well as we do, that it is 100% worth it and the animals deserve it.
Warrick Humane Society Has Been Saving Lives in Indiana for 40 Years
Currently located at 5722 Vann Road in Newburgh, Warrick Humane Society has been saving the lives of animals in Indiana for 40 years. What started in 1983 with just a few good-hearted people who opened their homes, has grown over the years to provide a no-kill shelter in Warrick County.
At Warrick Humane Society, our mission is to end the animal overpopulation crisis in the community, to find homes for homeless and neglected animals, and to provide educational programs and community services for the mutual benefit of animals and people.
Repair Expense Growing
With age comes wear and tear and the rescue's current building has fallen into poor condition. While the staff at Warrick Humane Society works to maintain the building, the money they are spending on repairs could be better spent to serve the animals in their care.
With a new facility, we would financially be able to focus solely on the health of our animals. We would also be able to provide the community with more low-cost veterinary options, which we get calls for every day.
Plans for a New Facility
Not only will the new facility allow the rescue staff to focus all of its resources on the care of the animals, but the new facility will also allow the shelter to have multiple quarantine rooms, all with separate ventilation which is crucial to maintaining the health of all of the animals in their care.
Additional Benefits of the New Build
Warrick Humane Society's plan for the new facility also includes a separate intake area that would allow for later hours, more rooms for the animals in their care, a conference room for educational services, and meet and greet areas so potential adopters can spend more time with the animals, as well as private adoption rooms to give adopters time and privacy to go over adoption documents.
It Started with a Gift
Warrick Humane Society was gifted a plot of land in 2021, along with a monetary donation dedicated to this project. These gifts have acted as the catalyst for the new venture, but the rescue still needs the help and support of the community to turn its dream of a new shelter into a reality.
How You Can Help Today - One Bite at a Time
Whenever I am panicked about a big project here at the radio station, my friend and co-worker Ashley, who is also a WHS adopter, reminds me of the old adage, "how do you eat an elephant? A bite at a time," and it's that same bite-at-a-time approach that Warrick Humane Society is taking om August 7, 2024.
Warrick Humane Society has partnered with 106 KISS FM, 103 GBF, 105.3 WJLT, and 99.5 WKDQ radio's for our One Day Donation Drive. Warrick Humane Society is trying to raise 1.25 million dollars for our New Shelter Build. After 8 months, we’ve raised just over $400,000. We are grateful to everyone who’s donated so far, but still have a way to go! We are hoping that our One Day Donation Drive, taking place tomorrow August 7th, can help us get a big push!
Tackling the Project a 'Bite at a Time' and You Can Help
While the total project is a large financial undertaking, Warrick Humane Society is asking for the public's help to just take it a bite at at time. You can help them take that bite by making a $10 donation that will go towards funding one room of dog kennels for the new facility. Their goal is to get 5,000 people to make a $10 donation to help build a kennel room. You can make your $10 donation today on the Shelter Project tab on their website.
Small Donation: Our goal is for 5,000 people to donate $10 (we also encourage those who are able to set up recurring donations!) Big Difference: 5,000 donations of $10 will raise us $50,000. That is enough money to cover the cost of one room of dog kennels in our new shelter! Support Building Hope: We’ve been using the same building for roughly 30 years, and have continued to outgrow it. We would typically have 200 adoptions a year in 2011. Now we adopt 1,000 animals out every year. We need more space to save more animals, and a building that is reliable and safe.
Set Up a Recurring Donation If You're Able
If you are feeling extra generous, and would like to set up a recurring donation to Warrick Humane Society, you can do that too. I know they would be eternally grateful! Of course, Warrick Humane Society is a registered 501 c 3 and your donations are tax deductible.
