Free 812 Day Block Party Celebrates All Things Evansville

If you've lived in Southern Indiana for any length of time, those three little numbers probably mean something to you.

812.

It's more than just the area code we type before a phone number. It's home. And on August 12, several Evansville businesses and organizations are teaming up for a celebration of all things local, and all things 812.

River City Coffee & Goods, Young & Established and Eight12 Run Club are hosting their annual 812 Day, turning part of Downtown Evansville into a block party filled with local food, shopping, music and plenty of hometown pride.

Celebrate Everything Local on 812 Day

The idea behind 812 Day is pretty simple: celebrate the people, businesses and organizations that make our little corner of Indiana special.

Visitors can grab handcrafted coffee from River City Coffee & Goods, listen to live DJs, hit the photo booth from Two 24 Events and shop locally made goods from vendors throughout the event.

There will also be food trucks, giveaways, deals, and a prize wheel available with purchase.

River City says there will even be new Evansville merchandise from Memo, and a portion of sales from all Evansville merchandise will be donated to Young & Established.

The block party will also bring together more than 20 local makers, small businesses and food vendors, so there will be plenty to browse while you're there.

Expect everything from vintage finds, jewelry and handmade goods to baked treats, barbecue, vegan eats, locally grown flowers and more.

And the celebration doesn't have to end at the block party.

Make a Night of It in Downtown Evansville

Organizers are encouraging visitors to explore more of Downtown Evansville while they're out celebrating.

You can stop into Memo Paper Goods, Posh on Main, River City Coffee & Goods, and Emerald Design for even more local shopping.

Adults can also grab a DORA drink from Peephole Bar & Grill or Patsy Hartigan's Irish Pub and enjoy it within Evansville's designated outdoor refreshment area.

Whether you stop by for a few minutes or stick around for the whole celebration, 812 Day is free to attend and offers a pretty great excuse to show some love to the people and businesses that make the 812 home.
