When The Facebook Algorithm Gets It Right

I know we all scroll social media, but do any of us actually scroll with a purpose? I highly doubt it, especially in a world in which algorithms are controlling what we're seeing. If you don't know what an algorithm is, my best redneck way of explaining it is this: An algorithm is when social media uses your past movements on their platform to determine what you might be interested in today. As the old lady that I am, Facebook is my primary social media go-to. Right there in your feed, along with the millions of other attempts to hook you on some product you're not interested in, will be a collection of reels the social media juggernaut believes will appeal to your attention span, based on your actions within their shared networks. While I generally laugh at what Facebook thinks I may find amusing, every once in a blue moon they nail it, and I find myself going down the rabbit hole of something new and interesting. For example, my latest obsession? Doctor videos.

All the Tips and Tricks You Don't Hear in the Doctor's Office

This new obsession started with the video above. A simple, helpful video that teaches a unique way to keep your Band-Aids from falling off. From there, I was suddenly watching doctor reaction videos from the emergency room. In these clips, you see a video of a gnarly injury or bizarre disease or bodily malfunction. The doctor proceeds to explain what you're watching and then provides helpful information for treating, curing, etc. Doctor Myro is a personal favorite of mine, simplifying everyday accidents into what they actually are. Below is a great example. Kids being silly, accidents happen, and injuries follow. But what exactly is that massive hematoma on your head after you hit it? Viewer discretion is advised...as kids will be kids.

I've learned several random facts from these videos. Here are a couple of others that I found interesting.
