The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site

Located in Indianapolis is the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.  In 1874 before he became President, Benjamin Harrison and his wife began construction on the house they would eventually call home.

From 1889-1893 President Benjamin Harrison and his wife lived in the white house, and unfortunately, President Harrison would return to his Indiana home alone as a widower.  He later remarried and had a daughter who was born in 1897. Unfortunately, President Harrison wouldn't live to see his daughter grow up, as he passed away inside his Indiana home on March 13th, 1901. 

Take a Tour of the Historical Site

The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site is now a historical site that you can visit. All year long you can take a guided tour of this 10,000-square-foot home that once housed Indiana's only president.  They host daily tours throughout the week, so if that is something you're interested in, you can learn more here.   However, in October, they offer something a little extra spooky!

Murder at the Manor

Throughout the year the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site hosts Candlelight Theater, a unique theatrical experience that is played out by candlelight.  In October, the Candlelight Theater is hosting Murder at the Manor which is an interactive murder mystery performance that has guests guessing "whodunit?"

According to Indy Arts Guide, the Murder at the Manor show goes like this:

In Indianapolis’s beautiful Old Northside, Garrison Manor is a fine example of traditional estate dwelling. Over the last few months, both the manor and its grounds have been lovingly restored and improved to create a unique leisure experience and will soon become a hotel.

Unfortunately, the evening’s opening night has been thrown into disarray by the discovery of the owner’s dead body on the manor grounds. Rather than lose business, the daughter of the deceased has put her grief aside and plans to use the murder to the hotel’s advantage. As the police are on strike, she is offering the guests the opportunity to engage in a real murder enquiry.

Guests will work in teams, interrogating suspects and gathering clues throughout the mansion to solve the crime. Will your team be the victorious sleuths?
