Local First Responders Attend 1st Birthday for Child Battling Cancer
First Responders from the local area gather to celebrate a one-year-old's birthday party in the most special way.
As a parent, this is a story that touched my heart. Yesterday, I saw that the Chandler Police Department shared a video on Facebook that garnered a lot of attention in the sweetest way. The Chandler Police Department, along with surrounding agencies, including the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department, Warrick County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Township Fire Department, and the Indiana State Police, showed up to show support at a one-year-old boy's first birthday party.

The child, Krue, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia called JMML. Krue's mom, Madison, tells me that Krue actually spent his birthday in the hospital getting the leukemia diagnosis. Madison says:
Krue's love for cars comes naturally from his dad and big brother Kamden. Kamden grew up obsessed with cars, and Krue has seen his big brother playing with cars since he came home from the hospital. Dale, Krue's dad and my husband, is a big car guy himself, so it’s only fitting that he is obsessed with cars as well.
Since Krue has a love for cars, especially police cars and fire trucks, word got around to local law enforcement agencies, and they all came together to show Krue some love and support at his first birthday party in a big way.
Madison says that her mother works for the Vanderburgh Prosecutors' Office, and when they heard about Krue getting his leukemia diagnosis on his birthday, they wanted to do something for him. So they all came together to attend his party. They even brought him a nice Paw Patrol gift!
Madison says that the family had tons of support from everyone in our community. There's been a GoFundMe page set up for Krue, which you can check out by clicking here. T-shirts in support of Krue's battle with cancer can also be purchased here, with proceeds going back to the family. Plus, they are working on another benefit project as well.
Again, as a parent, seeing what the local agencies did for Krue melts my heart. Hearing what Krue and his family are going through breaks it. My hope is that Krue stays strong, and beats cancer like a champ! You got this, buddy. The whole Tri-State is behind you!
