One Kentucky town is among America's best small towns to visit. Let's see if you can guess which one it is.

Kentucky towns are really a hot topic lately. When it comes to the Commonwealth, we have no shortage of small towns with a few big cities scattered in there, too. Everyone has small-town pride nowadays.  Recently, we have covered many of these towns in articles such as Kentucky city is one of the most mispronounced places in America, the safest town in Kentucky, a Kentucky city named one of the rudest in America, and one Kentucky city is among the best in the nation for pet owners.

To keep up with the theme of Kentucky towns, the website Cheapism put together a list of the best small towns in America to visit. Cheapism says that with lots of charm, natural beauty, history, and great food, small towns often make the best trips. I couldn't agree more. You never know what kind of gems you'll find in Small Town USA. As it turns out, one Kentucky town got a little bit of love from this list.

Best Small Town to Visit in Kentucky

According to Cheapism, the best small town to visit in Kentucky has a population of 13,567 and is a perfect destination for bourbon lovers. If you guessed Bardstown, you would be correct! Dubbed “Bourbon Capital of the World,” Bardstown is not pulling punches when it comes to the brown stuff—Bardstown is home to Four Roses, Willett, Maker’s Mark, Barton 1792, the Jim Beam American Stillhouse, and the Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage Center, as well as the oldest bar in Kentucky, Talbott Tavern. Here's what Cheapism had to say about Bardstown:

Kentucky is famous for producing bourbon, and the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown has been in operation for more than 130 years. The distillery sits on 196 acres in the heart of bourbon country and features 29 barrel-aging warehouses. Complimentary tours of the facility are available Monday through Saturday.

Of course, even if you aren't a bourbon lover, there is still plenty to see in do in Bardstown. The town has some really cool museums and history, there's a beautiful downtown area for shopping, great dining and nightlife, and so much more.

I have to admit, Bardstown does look quite charming. Plus, it's a major hub in Kentucky that connects to many bigger cities in about an hour. So it might make for the perfect stop for you before visiting Louisville or Lexington. Or, perhaps, you might just want to spend a weekend in Bardstown to soak in all it has to offer!
