Forbes Awards 9 Illinois Hospitals a Perfect Overall Score
It's not easy to get a perfect score no matter what you're doing. I would imagine that's even more difficult for medical facilities where their elite skills are required to make life and death decisions every day. That's why it's quite a compliment to say that 9 Illinois hospitals were given a perfect overall score in a new study done by Forbes.
Forbes says their new hospital rankings were focused on what they call "general acute care hospitals". Their Forbes Overall Hospital Quality Rankings measured "objective indicators of outcomes, best practices, value and patient experience" to produce a best-of-5 star ratings grade. Only 9 Illinois hospitals received a 5-star overall rating. Here they are:
- Ascension Saint Joseph-Chicago - Chicago, Illinois
- Blessing Hospital - Quincy, Illinois
- Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital - Lake Forest, Illinois
- Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital - Winfield, Illinois
- Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital - Geneva, Illinois
- Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital - McHenry, Illinois
- Northwestern Memorial Hospital - Chicago, Illinois
- Rush University Medical Center - Chicago, Illinois
- UChicago Medicine Advent-Health La Grange - La Grange, Illinois
I am one of the fortunate people who has never had a bad experience in a hospital in Illinois or anywhere else. I've seen the comments of others online and realize not everyone has great hospital experiences. I will admit that I'm a little biased towards doctors and nurses since multiple family members have been in the medical profession for decades and I know the years of school and training they endured to do what they do. Lists like this are meant to just be a part of personal research to decide what hospitals you trust your care to. It appears that in Illinois you have many excellent facilities to choose from.
