The Evansville Courier-Press reports that beginning today, the portion of Riverside Drive between Court Street and Stoney's Evansville will be closed for approximately four months while a new pedestrian bridge is constructed to connect LeMerigot hotel to Casino Aztar.

The project will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million dollars and is the first major construction project by Aztar since The District complex back in 2006. The District is home to Stoney's Evansville, Ri Ra, LeMerigot, and Blush Ultra Lounge. Construction of the bridge that will connect LeMerigot to the casino is part the agreement Aztar made with the city when they renegotiated their contract back in the Spring of 2010.

Alternate routes around the construction include 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Streets.
