Have You Seen the Showplace East Geese?

Early yesterday morning (Sunday, March 24th) my wife and I went to the movies.  We saw Us at something like 11:00 in the morning at Showplace Cinemas East here in Evansville.  We both thought the movie was "good not great," but that's beside the point.  At 10:30 on a rainy Sunday morning, most movie theater parking lots aren't typically packed.  As we were pulling into the parking lot, my wife says, "Oh, watch out for the goose."  The goose was tough to miss, as he was standing on one webbed foot in the middle of the lane between the first row of parking lot and the entrance to the theater...  Literally the most inconvenient spot he could be standing.

I speculated that "maybe he's enjoying some popcorn people dropped."  My wife thought she could see some bread that people had tossed him nearby.  We parked kind of close to the goose, and we didn't even get that close to him, when he let out a somewhat terrifying hiss at my wife, who jumped a little and picked up the pace at which she was walking.

We met some friends inside the theater, and the first thing they asked us was if we saw the goose!  Of course we did...  You couldn't miss him!  They then asked if we saw the nest he was protecting, which we had not.

After the movie as we were returning to our car, we were a little surprised to see that same exact goose, in that same exact one-legged stance, in the same exact spot he was more than two hours earlier.  By now the parking lot was much busier, but the goose seemed like he couldn't have cared less about the number of cars that could have easily ended his life.  Also, now that we knew to look, behind the goose in a flower bed, there was ANOTHER goose sitting on a nest behind orange construction netting!

This goose that had warned my wife to back tf up wasn't unfriendly...  HE WAS PROTECTING HIS FAMILY!  I'm assuming the theater is aware of this and actually put the netting up to protect the growing family, in which case, that's awesome.  We couldn't tell if the mother goose was sitting on eggs or goslings (because big daddy goose wasn't letting us ANYWHERE near the nest.)
