This week's pet of the week is Frederick! Frederick is a 57lb Hound mix that the WHS took in during Hurricane Disaster Relief efforts - and he's still waiting to find his forever home!

Frederick’s journey has been long, but his spirit is unbreakable. This 3-year-old Hound mix came to us through the Hurricane Helene disaster relief efforts, in collaboration with Best Friends Animal Society. After the storm, he's found safety at Warrick Humane Society after leaving Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, but now he's ready to find his true forever family. -WHS

Important Things to Know Before Adopting Frederick

He is current on all vaccines, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped, and neutered!

Hound Personality: What to Expect with Frederick

Frederick would be the ultimate adventure buddy! He's such a sweet, playful soul who loves to run, explore, and enjoy time with people. His goofy personality and lovable nature make him the perfect companion. He'll be loyal and loving, always ready for the next adventure with you!

WHS volunteer Angie Smith Wright posted this about Frederick on her Facebook page, "Duke took Frederick out again today Warrick Tails on Trails. He is a really good boy! He walks well on the leash, is easygoing, seems unbothered by other dogs and people, and loves to find and follow a scent! Frederick knew how to sit, would gently take treats, and loved being petted! He was really easygoing, a “go-with-the-flow” pup!"

Petting Zoos Within Driving Distance of the Tri-State

Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals over people most days. I tell my boyfriend all of the time that when we retire, I want a little plot of land with some cows, goats, pigs, chickens, and a whole lot of dogs. A girl can dream, right?
Sadly, since I can't have my own farm anytime soon, I guess I will settle for enjoying other people's animals, which means frequenting petting zoos and farms is pretty common for us. Luckily, I don't have to drive far to pet all the animals I can fit into a day.
From elephants to highland cattle to Clydesdales and a coatimundi, the tristate offers a wide variety of petting zoos that can be visited in a short day trip. Next thing you know, you'll be making your own list of animals to have on your own dream farm like me.

How To Tell Someone You're From Warrick County Without Saying You're From Warrick County

There are several ways to tell someone where you're from without actually telling them where you're from. Let's take Warrick County for example.
