4th Grade Students Shave Their Heads to Support Classmate Battling Cancer
Travis Selinka has some of the best friends in the world.
The 10-year-old from Carlsbad, California recently lost his hair while undergoing seven weeks of radiation to treat his brain cancer, so several classmates at El Camino Creek Elementary School decided to stand by his side by shaving their heads in a show of support.
Travis was blown away by the gesture:
I was astonished that they did this for me. It was amazing just knowing that I have all my friends there."
Travis' mom said her son was very apprehensive about returning to school without hair, but the actions of the other kids made it much easier for him. She said, "Fifteen boys went into that barbershop. It was overwhelming and every time I think about it, it brings tears to my eyes...every one of them shaved their head for Travis."
Seems like these kids are learning more than just out of a book. Watch a news report on the students' good deed below.
