Record-High Temps will Give Way to ‘First Taste of Fall’ in Indiana & Kentucky
I LOVE SUMMER, BUT...
This morning on Facebook, I saw Indianapolis meteorologist Matt Standridge posted that "the first taste of fall" was on its way. "How exciting," I thought! Now, don't get me wrong. I LOVE summer. I love pool days and riding my horse on warm afternoons. I absolutely love warm weather but these 90-degree plus temps have been brutal on me and my wallet. My electric bill was almost $800 last month! I'm ready for a break!
By this time next week, a rush of cooler air will arrive! We could see up to a 20°F temp drop across the Ohio River Valley, including Indiana. As it arrives early next week, expect rounds of storms, some of which could be severe with gusty winds. Indiana’s stormiest days will likely by
Monday and Tuesday. We’ll go from mid 90s this weekend in Indiana down to some 70s and 80s for some Hoosiers by the middle of next week. A little taste of early Fall is on the way.

THE HOTTEST WEEKEND OF 2025?
It wasn't long after that post that I saw a news station out of Kentucky posted that we could be in for the "hottest of the 2025" this weekend. What the actual (bleep)? I just saw that fall temps were on the way. What gives?
HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
So, I headed over to the National Weather Service to see what was up with this weather. I was greeted by a Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area.
Afternoon heat index values will top out at 108 degrees.
Okay, so 108 heat index? Cool, cool, cool, cool...
You've got to be kidding me! That's going to be miserable, but at least we had those fall-like temps to look forward to, right? I popped over to the forecast, and unfortunately, we still have a few hot days ahead to get there.
