A milestone at the new Tropicana Casino in downtown Evansville on Friday when the final structural beam was put in place by construction workers.

The new land-based casino directly across from where the current riverboat casino sets on Riverside Drive will be the first in Indiana thanks to a law passed by then-Governor Mike Pence in 2015, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

The placement of the final structural beam on Friday means the next phase of construction can get underway which presumably means walls, doors, windows, flooring, etc.

Once complete, the facility will feature 45,000 square feet of gaming space, the Tap House restaurant and bar, a deli, and a combination lounge/entertainment venue.
