Evansville Police Searching for Porch Pirate Suspects [PHOTOS]

Online shopping is great. You place your order online and in a couple of days it shows up at your house. However, most of the time, the package shows up when your at work, leaving it out in the open for anyone to see and, in a couple of recent cases, steal.

The Evansville Police Department posted two such incidents on their Facebook page Wednesday morning, complete with surveillance photos captured by the home owners' doorbell cameras.

The first two took place at the same house on two different days by two different individuals. According to the EPD's post, the thefts happened in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue on the City's east side in the neighborhood near Washington Middle School. The first took place on November 19th and involved the female pictured below. The second happened on November 21st by the male pictured.

The EPD doesn't list a date for the second incident, but they do say it happened in the 800 block of Southeast 1st Street in downtown Evansville around the Haynie's Corner Arts District. In that case the single white male pictured below, who appears to be older, was caught walking off with a package in that neighborhood.

To help prevent this from happening to you, the Vanderburgh Sheriff's Office offers the following tips when it comes to having Christmas packages, or any packages for that matter, delivered to your home.

• Bring in packages as quickly as possible.
• Sign up for text based delivery notifications through your online retailer.
• Ask a neighbor to bring your packages inside if you are not home.
• Consider deterent options such as a Package Guard or a Video Doorbell.
• Join your nieghboorhood social media group on Nextdoor to better communicate with your neighbors regarding suspicious activity and recieve localized alerts from the Sheriff's Office.
