Evansville’s Literacy Center is taking it's act on the road and bringing the gift of literacy to those that otherwise wouldn't have access to the program. The Literacy Center is a non-profit organization that offers services like High School Equivalency exam prep, filling out job and secondary education applications.

In an interview with Eyewitness News, Directors of the ELC said, "We realized that not everyone of our potential clients can are able to come to first ave they lack transportation or the ways to get here. So, we decided the best way to serve those individuals and to make a bigger impact on literacy was to create programs where we ca go into communities where people need our services."

According to their website, the Literacy Center is "currently working on partnerships with local agencies to provide assessments and tutoring for our Basic Adult Literacy and High School Equivalency programs at their locations across the tri-state".

The goal of the On-Site Learning Alliance is to bring the gift of literacy to people who have trouble getting to the Literacy Center due to transportation, child care availability, and other reasons.

If you know someone struggling with literacy, please contact the Evansville Literacy Center at 812-429-1222 or email assistant@litcenter.org.
