As expected, Drake‘s second LP ‘Take Care’ debuted atop the Billboard 200 album chart. The collection pushed 659,000 units in its first week of release, according to estimated totals from Hits Daily Double (via Boombox). Those are impressive numbers considering that the album was leaked online several days before its initial release.

In comparison, Drizzy’s first album ‘Thank Me Later’ debut at No. 1 in June 2010 with 447,000 discs sold. So Drizzy’s follow-up surpassed his first album by 200,000 copies.

This also makes ‘Take Care’ the second biggest rap debut of 2011 behind Lil Wayne‘s ‘Tha Carter IV,’ which moved 965,000 copies in its first week of release. Pop queen Lady Gaga is this year’s reigning first-week sales champ with 1.11 million units sold of ‘Born This Way.’

All and all, Young Money Records is having a phenomenal year with Drake, Wayne and Nicki Minaj doing big numbers with their respective projects. Young moo-lah, baabaay!
