A small-town Kentucky turkey made it through Thanksgiving without becoming dinner.  He is growing quite popular and everyone thinks he needs a name.

We'll just call him or her Owensboro's turkey because right now this guy doesn't have a name.  We learned about O Turkey right before Thanksgiving when there was a wreck on Highway 231 and folks were posting pictures of this turkey out in the middle of traffic as if it was looking to see what was going on.

THE TURKEY FAN CLUB

To some this turkey is wearing out his welcome and to others, he has become a fixture of their day.  This turkey thinks it owns HWY 231 and the 298 area.  It's even got a huge fan club with all the kids riding the buses up and down the road.

Several folks on a Facebook page called Friends of Masonville have started making sure the turkey is safe and taken care of.  A lot of people were worried he might not make it through Thanksgiving but he did.

Carla Roberts Hall posted:

Safe and sound.
My husband stopped traffic to shew him back to the side of the road.

People check on him daily and those that are part of the Friends of Masonville Facebook page often post updates and pictures of this guy.

He's also famous on another page called the Deer Valley Facebook page which is a neighborhood off 231.  The kids on that page have named him Crash.

Kentucky's Nuisance Animals

A couple of these creatures would cross over into the "dangerous" category, but the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says that these are ALL nuisances, and with good reason.
