If you've read anything I've written about Kentucky becoming more and more attractive to filmmakers over the last couple of years, you know that I have actually ALWAYS touted our small towns for their charm and how they really do look like a Hollywood set designer's concept of what a small town should look like.

When I was growing up, there weren't a lot of choices on cable, so the various local affiliates--in Evansville AND Louisville--would show old movies during the day on weekends. I saw a lot of them. Using that knowledge over the years, I came to realize how perfect the Commonwealth would be as a movie setting. We have no shortage of the kinds of towns I've seen in so many films.

Very recently, Oscar-nominated actor and now director Ethan Hawke was filming, yes, in a cool old Louisville neighborhood but also in nearby Shelbyville.

Last spring, Orlando Bloom was soaking in small-town Kentucky life while shooting the thriller Red Right Hand.

Ever since the tax credit known as the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive became refundable in January of 2022, we've seen a major uptick in film projects earmarked for the Commonwealth, and it is truly exciting

From big screen releases to films for the small screen, Kentucky has become a desirable backdrop for the movie industry. And the folks in Somerset KY couldn't be happier about it. That's because the Pulaski County seat will be the setting for a new holiday TV-movie called Christmas at the Amish Bakery, and extras are needed.

Even if you're not FROM Somerset, who's to say you can't go hang out for a while and have your big moment on the small screen?

The film crew has actually been working with Somerset city officials since November, so this has been in the works for a little while now. However, there is no word yet regarding a release date--I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it will be closer to the holidays--or who any of the stars are. They're keeping a tight lid on it.

Hopefully, we'll no more in the next few weeks.
