Cellist Combines Classical Music and Hip-Hop into One Unique Sound

Meet Kevin "K.O." Olusola, a Kentucky born, award winning cellist and saxophonist who, according to his bio, "blends jazz, classical, and hip-hop...to create his own style of music." Something we here in Evansville has seen before when The Black Violin opened for Jason Derulo at the USI Springfest back in April.

What separates Kevin is his ability to beatbox and provide his own backing track while he plays the cello. Currently studying Chinese in Beijing, China on Yale Fellowship (he's apparently wicked smart too), Kevin has performed on the Today Show, and has opened for Drake as well as KRS-One.

Take a look at the video below of Kevin performing an piece called Julie-O written by songwriter Mark Summer and I think you'll be impressed. Just a head's up, it starts a bit slow but picks up around the 1:00 mark.
