New ‘Avengers 2’ Clip Features Iron Man Throwing Down With Ultron
Avengers: Age of Ultron has already begun screening for critics and it has been receiving very positive responses, which is definitely not doing anything to deter our personal hype from reaching unfair and dangerous levels. Thankfully, Marvel has thrown the rest of us a bone with this new clip from the film, which features enough of that typical Joss Whedon wit and enough big action to satiate us for, oh, another day or so.
The brief clip is out of context and has probably been ruthlessly edited down, so don’t take it as a literal representation of the film. However, it does offer its fair share of goodness. First of all, it gives us a nice, slightly extended look at the villainous Ultron, who is snarky enough to totally justify the casting of James Spader. In fact, his vicious banter with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark (his father, of sorts) should be a highlight of the film.
Second, we get an additional taste of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s accent as Quicksilver and an example of Elizabeth Olsen’s voice as the Scarlet Witch. It warms our comic book-loving hearts that their accents have survived the transition to the big screen.
And finally, we get a quick taste of an action scene, with Tony battling the newly upgraded Ultron by taking flight and slamming him into the roof, which is such an Iron Man thing to do. The action looks good, but we wish we could’ve heard more bantering in place of it.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, 2015.
