Evansville has had its share of people go on to become famous, many in the world of sports (for example, Don Mattingly), but there are others that have found fame at some point in their lives you may not realize have their roots right here in Southern Indiana.

Some of the following five faces may look familiar to you in that, "I've-seen-him (or her)-before-but-don't-know-their-name" kind of way, and their level of fame my vary depending on your opinion, but all were born right here in Evansville.

A.J. Alexander - Playboy's Miss May 2008

Her eyes are glowing!! Is she possessed?

Posted by Michael W Sanders on Friday, October 30, 2009

Born Amanda Jane Herrmann, the beautiful A.J. (pictured from a 2009 in studio interview on our sister-station, 103GBF) graduated from Harrison High School before attending USI. She went west to California after college to pursue a modeling career and rose to fame when she was selected as Playboy's Miss May back in 2008. That appearance led to a role in the 2011 movie The Pool Boys. Since then A.J. seems to have retreated into a normal life. Finding info on what she's up to these days is difficult, but from what I've been able to gather, she's now mother of two, splitting her time between Evansville and California.

Avery Brooks - Actor

Avery Brooks' list of screen credits dates back to 1984, but Sci-Fi fans, particularly those of Star Trek, will recognize Brooks as from his six year run as Captain Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Other notable credits include the film, American History X, and 15 Minutes along side Robert Deniro and Edward Norton.

Dan Engler - WWE Referee

Reitz High School grad, Dan Engler, makes his living in the larger-than-life world of professional wrestling as a referee for WWE. Before that, he spent time in the same role for WWE competitor, TNA Wrestling. When he's not traveling the world reffing matches for stars like John Cena and Triple H, Dan runs the ReitzFootball.com website.

Casey Stegall - Fox News Correspondant

You may recognize Casey from his days as a reporter for local TV station WTVW Local 7 where he worked after graduating from Ball State University. After stints in Austin and Dallas, Texas, Casey joined the Fox News Network in 2007, working out of their Dallas office.

Born here in Evansville, Dylan and his family moved to Champaign, Illinois when he was around the age of 5. He was scouted by a talent agent out of Chicago leading his family to relocate again to Los Angeles so he could pursue his career in show business. He's made appearances in a number of major television series over the course of his career including, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Scandal, Two and Half Men, and Lost. His film credits include Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day alongside Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, as well as the 2013 thriller, Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman.
