West Side Nut Club Cruise-In Returns to Evansville’s West Side June 10th
I'm not what you'd call a "car guy" in the sense that I can look at a vehicle and tell you what kind of engine it has in it, how much horsepower it has, or how many seconds it takes to go from zero to 60. However, I know a sharp-looking automobile when I see it, and there will be a lot of them to see during the West Side Nut Club's annual Cruise-In fundraiser on Franklin Street on June 10th.
21st Annual West Side Nut Club Cruise-In
I have an uncle who is what you would call a "car guy" who has completely restored both a 1969 Chevrolet Nova and a 1937 Chevrolet Sedan that looks like one of those cars from an old gangster movie where one guy would lean out the window from the backseat blasting a Tommy gun. They are pretty sweet. There's a good chance you'll see cars like those at the annual Nut Club Cruise-In.
The event is scheduled to run from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 10th on Franklin Street between St. Joe and Wabash Avenue of Flags (the same stretch of Franklin where the Fall Festival takes place each year). Admission is free and if have a car you'd like to show off, all you have to do is show up between 2:00 and 6:00 PM to register.
If you don't have a vehicle to show off, and you just like to look at them, that's cool too. In addition to the cruise-in, there will be music, raffle tickets, ice cream, costumed characters for the kids to enjoy, and a half-pot drawing with a maximum $1,500 jackpot up for grabs.
While there is no admission fee to take a look around, donations will be accepted by the Club with all proceeds going directly to its Scholarship Fund.
