The Vanderburgh County Household Waste Collection is taking place for the 21st year in a row. Find out what you can and cannot dispose of here.

Today, June 14th, you can dispose of your hazardous household cleaners and chemicals from 9am - 2pm at the Civic Center parking lot. The Tox-Away Day is sponsored by the Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District and is available to residents of Vanderburgh County.

According to 14News, here are the items that you can drop off:

  • Used motor oil
  • Antifreeze
  • Pesticides
  • Household cleaners and chemicals
  • Aerosol cans
  • Solvents and thinners
  • Oil based paint
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Items containing Mercury(like thermometers and fluorescent bulbs)

Items not permitted for disposal:

  • Latex paint
  • Commercial and industrial waste
  • Explosives and ammunition
  • Infectious waste
  • Radioactive waste
