My favorite food in the entire world is pizza.  As someone who has lived in both Philadelphia and New York, I have a distinct taste and preferences in what I like in a pizza.  I eat pizza constantly.  I honestly can't tell you the last time I've gone a week without pizza...  Basically, I am beyond qualified to tell you who makes the best pizza in the Tri-State.

A few months ago I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed and saw a picture of what looked to be the most delicious pizza I had ever seen.  I was certain this was one of my friends from back home in Philly, but when I looked more closely, I realized that it was friend from here in Evansville, who regular listeners of The Rob's Radio Show may recognize as Yesenia.  I asked her where she got the pizza, and I made it my personal quest to get my hands on some as soon as possible.

Yesenia told me it was a new pizzeria called Lombardi's, not far over the bridge in Henderson.  It was fairly new at the time, in fact is still think the restaurant is only several months old.  That very next day, I crossed state lines strictly to get myself a taste of this uniquely New York-style pizza.

New York-style pizza appears to be their specialty.  Their pizza tastes exactly like the kind of pizza I ate growing up, look forward to when I go home, and long for during the months in between.  The place itself pays a lot of love to The Big Apple, and from hearing some of the people talk behind the counter, I get the impression that it is run by true New Yorkers, although I'm not positive...  That's a compliment.

The price is fair, too.  A large plain pie will run you about $12, but you will get plenty of pizza for that price.  My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that they're located a somewhat lengthy distance from where I live.  For me to go pick one up, I'm probably looking at 40 minutes, round trip.  But it's a trip I'm happy to make, because it beats the 15-hour drive to Brooklyn.

Mr. Lombardi, if that is your real name, keep doing what you're doing.  In just a few short months you've changed the game and upped the ante for pizza in the Tri-State.  Your food is delicious, and thank you for making a pizza that reminds me home.  I'll be back to see you soon!
