Baseball

The 2011 - 2012 school year has been a good one for Mater Dei sports. In November the football team played their way to the state title game at Lucas Oil Stadium, coming up short in their quest for state title in a loss to powerhouse, Fort Wayne Bishop-Luers. Then the girls basketball team made the trek up Highway 41 in February to bring home a state title against the aforementioned Bishop-Luers.

This could possibly be one of the greatest catches of the year.

Even if you're not a fan, there's something special about going to the ballpark and watching a game in person. It's not really one thing, but a combination of everything that makes it special regardless of whether your in St. Louis or Cincinnati or right here in Evansville taking in an Otters game at Bosse Field.

When it comes to sports, baseball ranks behind professional football, college football, high school football, flag football, and video game football on my list. I don't dislike the game, I just don't have a particular team I follow, and watching the games on TV can sometimes be as exciting as watching paint dry or grass grow. Add another one to the list of most memorable first pitches in baseball.

If I sat down and wrote out a bucket list, throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game would certainly be on there somewhere (are you listening Evansville Otters?).

I saw this on Sports Center, this is awesome!  One of the Cirque du Soleil performers threw out the first pitch at PETCO Field...  In grand fashion!
