An Indiana mom is in hot water after leaving her two-year-old in a bathtub full of cold water for several minutes – causing the child’s core temperature to drop into the dangerous stages of hypothermia.

Authorities say 33-year-old Heather Ann Wilson of Dunkirk placed her daughter in the bath after her 5-year-old son smeared dog feces in her hair. There she left her daughter for more than 20-minutes even though the littler girl’s initial reaction to water caused her to “tense up…and no be able to speak,” according to the police report.

When authorities arrived on the scene, in response an emergency call about a child suffering a possible seizure, they discovered the little girl had “purplish” lips, was moaning and borderline catatonic. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where it was recommended she be transferred to a Fort Wayne facility for special treatment against hypothermia.

In addition to her laundry list of pending court cases, ranging from possession of drug paraphernalia to intimidation, Wilson has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, which is a Class-B felony that carries a standard 10-year prison sentence. Her trial is scheduled for later next month.
