The work is done, and now the city of Newburgh is ready to show the Tri-State they're newest public park, Friedman Park (pronounced FREED-MAN) off Oak Grove Road adjacent to Victoria National Golf Course!

The team behind the park were nice enough to let me stop by for a sneak peak before it opens up this Saturday as part of the festivities for the Run Victoria 5K / 10K. The $5.5 million dollar project boasts a wide open space with plenty of room for picnics, throwing a Frisbee, or just laying out a blanket and reading a book. It also offers a paved walking trail around the perimeter of the park, an awesome playground for the kids, an amphitheater, and two shelter houses complete with stone fire pits that are available for rent.

The park will play host to the post-race party for the Run Victoria 5K / 10K and will feature food trucks, live music, an auction, raffle baskets, kids games and more.

Proceeds from the run will benefit the Warrick Trails group who will use the money to continue their plan of installing 30 miles of new trails and shared roadway bike routes which includes connecting the east side of Friedman Park to Boonville via an 8.5 mile shared roadway route, and connecting the west end of the park to a new trailhead on Anderson road.
