This morning we discussed the 10 movies that brought in the most money in 2013. Rob has seen the most movies from the list, but Kat and Chandelle have only seen 2 or 3 from the list. The movies that make the most money last year were:

  1. Iron Man 3
  2. Despicable Me 2
  3. Fast and Furious 6
  4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
  5. Monsters University
  6. Man of Steel
  7. Gravity
  8. Thor: The Dark World
  9. The Croods
  10. World War Z

As we thought back to the movies we saw last year, it turns out we pretty much agreed with the list.

Rob:

I got a chance to go the theater and see a LOT of movies in 2013. I've given a lot of thought as to which one was my favorite... But my mind keeps going back to ONE movie... "Bad Grandpa." The Borat-style presentation of part-scripted/part-candid is one that has always worked for me. I can't remember laughing harder at any movie last year. So I would say the best movie last year was "Bad Grandpa."

Kat:

I don't go to the theater often to see new movies - it get's expensive! Most of the movies that I watched in 2013 were older films released on television, but of the new movies that I did get to enjoy in 2013, "The Hunger Games Catching Fire" was my favorite. I took my daughter to see it in Imax and it was incredible! The story was very compelling and I felt such an immediate connection with the characters and the story. Plus there was a great deal of anticipation in my house for this movie since my daughter is a huge fan!

Chandelle:

My favorite movie of 2013 was definitely "Despicable me 2"! I love cartoon movies and the original "Despicable Me" is still one of my favorites. I assumed that the sequel would fall short of it expectation, like sequels usually do, but it was just as good as the original! I also really liked the sequel to "Monsters Inc.," "Monsters University", but I still don't think those monsters compared to the minions.
