Given the film’s box office success and surprising - albeit extremely preliminary - Oscar buzz, it’s probably fair to declare 2017 as the year of Wonder Woman. And all this Wonder Woman excitement has fans asking: after we see the character again in this fall’s Justice League, what’s next for the star of the DCEU? Will she jump forward to the modern world in Wonder Woman 2? Will we continue to see her adventures unfold throughout the 1900s? Or will Warner Bros. do something really wacky with her character, like, I dunno, make her the villain of another DCEU movie?

It takes a lot for Academy voters to recognize or even acknowledge a superhero film, but perhaps the highest-grossing film ever directed by a woman could do the trick. With a worldwide box office gross of $781 million (to date) and a 92 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Wonder Woman is a certified hit. Critics and audiences alike have fallen head over heels for Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot’s solo superhero film, but can Warner Bros. get Oscar voters to do the same?

The Wonder Woman sequel train has pulled out of the station, and even with Patty Jenkins’ crossover superhero hit still playing in theaters, it’s already begun to pick up steam. Star Gal Gadot will return for the second solo project for the indestructible Amazon, they’ve landed writer Geoff Johns (who co-produced the Green Lantern movie, so, yikes) to handle the script, and while Jenkins has yet to put her Jane Hancock on the dotted line for another film, details of plot are now solidifying. For Wonder Woman, Diana battled those no-good fascists in World War I, and the sequel will reportedly plop her down in another historical era to intervene in a real-life global crisis. This time, the Rooskies will be the ones shaking in their boots.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, Edgar Wright fans: did the filmmaker’s action-packed Baby Driver score big with audiences? Or does this weekend belong to sequels, sequels, and more sequels? This weekend was always going to belong to Despicable Me 3— it’s a big hit with the kiddos, don’t you know— but there’s definitely some room for optimism in how the rest of the weekend Top 10 shook out. Another weekend, another Weekend Box Office Report! While it won’t surprise you to find out that Michael Bay’s latest episode of Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots won the weekend, the specifics of that win come with enough asterisks to make even Barry Bonds blush. It was a terrible weekend for Transformers: The Last Knight one on continent and a record-breaking opening on another, which just goes to show how confusing this whole box office thing can be at times. Here’s the projected numbers as of Sunday afternoon:

You will see Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman back onscreen in just a couple months, as one of the key members of Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League. But how long will we have to wait for a sequel? Obviously Wonder Woman 2 will happen. It’s just a matter of when.

A few weeks before Wonder Woman hit theaters, film critics took to social media to share their early reactions of the newest movie in the DC Cinematic Universe. And while critics had plenty of great things to say about the film’s overall tone and Gal Gadot in particular, one sentiment above all others kept bubbling to the surface: this movie was funny. When fans got a chance to see the movie for themselves, they were pretty quick to agree. Gadot’s fish-out-of-water take on Diana Prince, combined with Chris Pine’s deadpan delivery as the superhero’s straight man, makes Wonder Woman one of the funniest comic book movies to date.

The film was the top opening ever for a female director.

As we noted in our review of Wonder Woman, the primary antagonist of the film, the God of War Ares, is a bit of a mystery. Early in the film, a young Diana (Gal Gadot) is taught the origin of her race of Amazons, which involves Ares slaughtering all the other Greek gods. Many years later, Diana learns of World War I from Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and believes it’s the work of Ares. So she sets off into the outside world to find him and kill him in order to free mankind from his influence.

Zack Snyder had so much additional material for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that he delivered a three-hour director’s cut for the Blu-ray release. And after all those reports of reshoots and competing cuts, Suicide Squad arrived on home video with a decent amount of bonus footage — mostly featuring Jared Leto’s Joker. As for Wonder Woman, director Patty Jenkins says you shouldn’t expect to see any deleted scenes when the film hits DVD and Blu-ray…because there aren’t any deleted scenes, like, at all.

Following Monday night’s terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, Warner Bros. has officially canceled the London premiere of Wonder Woman, the studio’s highly-anticipated superhero film — and the first in over 10 years to feature a female lead. The news comes just one day after British Prime Minister Theresa May elevated the terrorist threat level from “severe” to “critical,” and announced that another attack could be “imminent.”

Nowadays, watching a superhero movie without a post-credits scene or two feels almost incomplete. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 gave us an unprecedented four mid-credits scenes, and a few MCU movies before that had had at least two. But the DCEU is different, with both Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman eschewing the post-credits scene rule in favor of letting the movie end at the credits and allowing audience members to go the heck home. However, Suicide Squad did have one — which featured Amanda Waller handing over her files to Bruce Wayne. No doubt that was meant to connect Suicide Squad to the Justice League, but does that mean the upcoming Wonder Woman will also have a scene after the credits have rolled?
