On snowy days, like today, I get up around 4 a.m. to do weather closings. Yeah, someone has to do these things in radio and TV. And, luckily, my boss goes in to work about the same time and can gauge the road conditions for me. He drives a Camaro so if he can make it in (which is ALWAYS), I can make it in.

The strange winter weather pattern will bring us more ice and snow this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch the area beginning at midnight Saturday night and remaining in effect until Monday morning...

Despite the inherited dangers that came with the winter storm that blanketed the Tri-State under a sheet of ice earlier in the week, such as hazardous driving conditions and power outages for several hundred people in the area (almost all of which has been restored as of this post), Old Man Winter's icy footprint can also be quite pretty in its own weird sort of way.

Another winter storm has come and gone (this is like our fourth, right?), and left Evansville under a nice sheet of ice and snow which always makes driving difficult. But was it as bad as predicted?

Just when you thought things were going to warm up... Mother Nature does a 180. Prepare for a nasty winter storm tonight. Sleet, ice and snow are all forecasted.

If you live in the Midwest, you already know this: it's very, very, extremely, downright absurdly cold out there. And things are only going to get worse as what weather experts call a "polar vortex" begins covering more and more of the country.

The first winter storm of the year will certainly cause travel issues for residents in the Evansville / Tri-State area this weekend. If you must get out this weekend, keep these numbers handy to check road conditions in your area before heading out.

Stuff just got real for the entire Tri-State.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Paducah has officially issued a Winter Storm Watch for the entire Tri-State area beginning Thursday evening.

We want to see the first snow of 2012 through your eyes, or camera, I guess.

This morning, southern Indiana, Illinois and Western Kentucky has been hit by up to 12" of snow! In Wisconsin or Michigan, this wouldn't be anything to write home about but here in the 'almost South' we take our snow very seriously. Because kids are off school and have been patiently dealing with family time, it may be a good time to go outside and sled or build a snowman...
