I‘ve never seen 75 million dollars. It’s more than I have ever had, will ever have, and in all likelihood, more than I will cumulatively earn over the course of my entire life. So the news that Ben Affleck singlehandedly lost $75,000,000 for Warner Bros. with his pricy and apparently unappealing Live By Night has been kind of hard to process. Why doesn’t he have to go to jail? How is he allowed to continue directing movies? This defies all the laws of Monopoly, my lone primer on the ins and outs of macroeconomics.

The future of the DC Cinematic Universe is filled with lots of mystery. We don’t know what that second Justice League film we be called, nor do we have many details on Aquaman and Shazam. But we might finally have an idea as to when Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie will hit theaters.

Early details on The Accountant made the new film from Warrior director Gavin O’Connor sound like it was based on a graphic novel, even though it’s not: Ben Affleck stars as a white collar accountant who leads a double-life as a lethal assassin. So it wasn’t really surprising when WB announced plans to release a tie-in comic book for The Accountant. What is a bit surprising is the tone of the first trailer, which presents an intriguing and off-kilter drama about a man struggling with a vague mental disorder.

"It’s fine. She’s allowed to talk about it," a beleaguered-seeming Affleck told the 'New York Times' of Garner's 'Vanity Fair' interview.

One of the stipulations when Ben Affleck signed on to star in Batman vs. Superman was that his Argo writer, Chris Terrio, would come aboard to help fix the script. Though Terrio was indeed brought in to rewrite the script (originally written by David Goyer), it seems Affleck still was not happy with it. According to a recent report, Affleck spent each day rewriting that day’s scenes until they were up to snuff. Oh, and he did it dressed as Batman.

As Sundance dominated the news cycle this morning, the superhero hype machine continued to grind along. This morning, it spat out a new trailer for the upcoming DC crossover tentpole Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it just might be the darkest (in terms of deficient lighting and overall tone) yet. The eternal philosophical struggle of men both Bat- and Super- rages on, incapable of finally resolving because both Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are inside all of us. Henry Cavill’s ridiculous costume glasses: What do they symbolize? Man’s inability to hide his true self, always exposing his nature through non-conscious gestures? Or perhaps they are just a symbol of bad glasses?
