Years of research, development, and construction has resulted in the world's first, and only, proton therapy center, and it's completely changed the way brain tumors are being treated.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee has been the world's leading authority in the research, development, and treatment of childhood cancers and other catastrophic diseases since they opened their doors in 1962; and the new Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center is another example of that.

The last time I was in Memphis for the annual St. Jude Radiothon conference, the building that houses the massive proton accelerator was in its infancy, nothing more than steel girders and concrete. Fast forward three-plus years, and there now stands a multi-story building that houses a remarkable advancement in the way brain tumors are targeted and treated.

The technology of this Accelerator is nothing short of miraculous. The machine itself takes up three stories of the building, and despite its unbelievable size, generates a pencil-thin laser beam doctors can use to target a patient's tumor with pinpoint accuracy.

It sounds like something straight out of a science fiction movie, but it's real; it's at St. Jude in the middle of Memphis, Tennessee, and it's saving lives.

This technology, and other advancements in the treatment of childhood cancers, are made possible through the commitment of people like me and you who take the pledge to become Partners in Hope with St. Jude by making a simple donation of $20 a month.

Join the fight by calling 1-800-372-4999 during our annual St. Jude Radiothon going on Thursday, March 3rd, and Friday, March 4th from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day.
