Popular Starbucks Drink Recalled in Illinois and Indiana Due to Shards of Metal

If you are looking for your morning dose of caffeine, you might get more than you bargained for with one popular Starbucks drink.

So many people out there rely on caffeine in the form of coffee to help kickstart their day. We all know at least one of them, heck it might even be you. However, if you stock up on Starbucks drinks at the grocery store, you might want to be aware of a new recall that affects folks in Illinois and Indiana.

Starbucks Espresso Drink Recalled

On September 9th, Food Safety News reported that PepsiCo Inc., which is the company that distributes and bottles the ready-to-drink Starbucks products, has recalled 221 cases of Starbucks' Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot drinks. That means 2,652 drinks are included in the recall. This recall is due to the possibility that they may be contaminated with metal fragments. That means that shards of metal could be in your drink! As you might assume, the possibility of having shards of metal in your drink could lead to serious dental and/or internal injuries.

According to Food Safety News, the recall applies to the 15-ounce bottles of the beverages, not the canned products (even though those are the only ones we can find photos of). The drinks were packaged with 12 bottles per case. These drinks were sold in seven states: Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, however, the stores that carried the products have not been named.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to stop consuming the product and return it to the place of purchase.
