Lilly King's quest to add to her medal count in the 2016 Rio Olympics continued Wednesday morning with the 200 meter breaststroke preliminaries.

The Evansville native and Reitz High School alum won gold Monday night with a strong performance in the 100 meter breaststroke, swimming the fastest time in the semifinals, and an Olympic record in the finals.

Wednesday's performance in the 200 meter prelims wasn't quite as strong as King finished fifth in her heat however, she just needed her time to be somewhere in the top 16 in order to continue on to the semifinals Wednesday evening, which is exactly what she did. Barely. Her time of 2:25.89 was good for 15th overall. But a berth in the semis is a berth in the semis no matter how you look at it.

She will swim again tonight at approximately 9:11 p.m. Evansville time on NBC (Channel 14 WFIE locally). If she places in the top four of her semifinal heat, she'll advance to Thursday evening's semifinals at approximately 8:17 p.m. on NBC.
