There are so many great reasons to visit Owensboro, Kentucky- the International Bar-B-Q Festival (now known as the Bar-B-Q Block Party), ROMP, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Friday After 5, Green River Distilling Company, great events at the Owensboro Convention Center and concerts and sporting events at the Owensboro Sportscenter, just to name a few. We're a relatively small town, but there's a lot to do here- especially as we get into the spring and summer months.

Another perk of visiting Owensboro is that you can literally get just about anywhere in the city within about ten minutes. Lots of folks take vacations and choose places that require you to burn massive amounts of "vacation time" in the car or on public transit.  In Owensboro, you don't have to that.  You can actually come to this city, walk outside the doors of your hotel room and start enjoying it.

As of last week, there's a brand new Airbnb available here in town that will allow you to do just that. It's located right in the heart of the city and gives you easy access, literally steps away, to downtown Owensboro and other areas of interest.  Earlier this year, I got a sneak peek inside and fell in love with it.

My friend JD and his husband Jeff have various Airbnb properties in Iowa, where they live. However, JD's family is here in town, so the couple decided to buy a place they could stay when they come to the 'Boro for a visit.  They found a delightfully charming house on West 14th Street, which is centrally-located in town.

I personally know this neighborhood well.  For years, I lived right off 14th- in the J Z  Moore District- on the opposite side of Frederica Street from JD and Jeff's place. This section of Owensboro is known for its historic homes, old-world charm and easy access to virtually all points of interest in the city.  JD and Jeff's new Airbnb accentuates that positive and many others.

Their place, at 315 West 14th Street, has that "historic" charm, but they've loaded it up with contemporary amenities and flavor.

JD joined our morning show to chat about the house and its 100-year facelift.

Charming New Airbnb in the Heart of Owensboro, Kentucky

If you're planning a trip to Owensboro, check out this new Airbnb. It offers three bedrooms and 2.5 baths in the historic heart of the city.

The property rents for $233 per night and JD and Jeff are accepting reservations. So far, it's proven very popular with the guests that have stayed there. If you'd like to learn more about the property and secure your stay, CLICK HERE!
