After the snow fell across the Tri-State early Wednesday morning, our Engineer was outside shoveling the front sidewalk and told me to come listen to sound of the road salt doing its thing.

I stepped outside and it sounded just like pouring a fresh bowl of Rice Krispies cereal. There was snapping, crackling, and popping going on all around. I'm not scientist, but my assumption is the sound was coming from ice crystals popping as the chemicals in the road salt combined with what little heat the sun was putting out.

Whatever caused it, it sounded pretty cool.
