During his Wednesday afternoon address to Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear gave the floor to Kentucky Department of Education interim commissioner, Kevin Brown, who outlined Kentucky's "Healthy at School" guidelines for the coming school year.

Social distancing of at least six feet will be required in classrooms. But if that isn't possible, masks will be required. Also, smaller classrooms will be recommended. Assemblies will be limited and there will be social distancing in the hallways.

Commissioner Brown used the phrase, "when you move, you mask," which is pretty self-explanatory. Masks will also be required on school buses. And, before boarding a bus, there will be temperature checks OR an assurance from a parent or parents that the child has no fever. However, temperature screenings will happen once the kids get to school. 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit is the threshold.

Screening requirements at school mean the students will be sent home if they show any symptoms of COVID-19 such as a temperature of 100.4 or higher, coughing, a rash, and vomiting and or diarrhea. They will also be excused if they've been exposed to COVID-19 within 48 hours.

Sanitation will play a huge role. Naturally, schools and buses will need to be cleaned regularly.

In terms of contact tracing, there will be a manifest for each bus in order to determine where children are sitting in case a child becomes infected. Seating charts will come into play in classrooms.

The interim KDE commissioner's announcement and outlines begin at the 26:15 mark of the governor's address:
