Think of a list of creatures you simply would NOT expect to find in Kentucky. Now...where do jellyfish land on that list?

Well, wherever they are you can mark them off, because Kentucky has jellyfish. That's right, honest-to-goodness freshwater jellyfish.

And, honest-to-goodness, they're not anything like their MUCH bigger brethren you'll find on any given shoreline.

No, these are very small jellyfish and they don't sting. And they've even been spotted nearby. Madeline Withrow took this picture at a private lake near Owensboro.
