It’s official! The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has been looking ahead and is excited to announce its 2026-2027 Calendar for that school year. The EVSC has approved the 2026–2027 school year calendar, and there are a few key dates parents will want to mark down.

The new year will once again kick off with a staggered start, but students will get a little extra summer this time — classes won’t begin until the second full week of August. This gives teachers a little more time for classroom prep, and parents soak up some sun while spending quality time with their kiddos.

Here’s how it breaks down:

August 10–11: Students with last names K through Z will start.
August 12–13: Students with last names A through J will join in.
Then on Friday, August 14, everyone will be back together under one roof.

Fall, Classes, and Holiday Breaks

After that, it’s full speed ahead into the fall semester — with a few breaks already on the calendar, including Fall Break from October 12–16 and Thanksgiving Break from November 25–27.

Already thinking about the summer break?

And if you’re already planning ahead for next summer, you can set Alice Cooper’s famous “School’s Out For Summer” on your playlist as the last day of school will be May 28, followed by graduation weekend, May 26–28.

Why they do it

The EVSC says this schedule helps ease students and teachers back into the new year while keeping the district’s required 180 instructional days.

Where you can go for more

You can check out the full calendar, including all breaks and staff development days, and overall more information on the EVSC website.
