Stay Prepared: Make Sure You Have These Indiana Winter Weather Essentials

We had an unseasonably warm fall here in Southern Indiana. You're not gonna hear me complaining - I tried to enjoy it as much as I could - but I know winter weather is here, mostly likely to stay. Hoosiers know that nasty weather can show up quickly and without much warning this time of the year. Do you remember this time last year when we woke up to several inches of snow that seemingly came from nowhere?

You do not want to find yourself caught off guard and unprepared when winter weather eventually does show up. That is why now is the perfect time to stock up on some items that are essential to having an enjoyable and safe winter experience. I like to separate these things into a few categories...

• Personal comfort & safety essentials
• Outdoor essentials
• Playtime essentials
• Fancy schmancy essentials

Go through your closets and/or tubs and take an inventory of all your winter gear. You want to make sure that you A) have everything you need, and more importantly that B) everything still fits. If you have kiddos, you are likely to find that they have outgrown their stuff. Next, head to your garage and/or shed to check on those outdoor items you will need.
