The most magical switch-flip of the season is almost here! If you’ve been waiting for that moment when the holidays officially kick off in Evansville, your wait is almost over. The annual lighting of the official Evansville Holiday Tree is happening on Saturday, November 29, at 6:30pm, right in front of the Civic Center.

Why the Evansville Tree Lighting Feels So Special

I'll be completely honest - I used to be a sceptic about this kind of thing. I thought, "What's the big deal? We're just turning on some lights." That is, until I actually attended this celebration a few years ago. I'll be the first to admit it was a really cool event, and now I look forward to it.

There's just something special about it - seeing so many people gather for the lighting. Everyone's in a good mood, and it gives you such a real sense of community. Here's what Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry says about it...

The annual tree lighting is one of our city's most beloved traditions, bringing together families to celebrate the joy of the holiday season. It’s a time for us to come together, reflect on the year, and embrace the spirit of unity and hope that makes our community so special. I look forward to entering the holiday season surrounded by a community I am so grateful to serve.
